CultureRx Joins Fight Against Cancer

Minneapolis, MN (September 19, 2011) — CultureRx, the consulting company formed by Cali Ressler and Jody Thompson to migrate organizations to a Results-Only Work Environment (ROWE), is pleased to announce that the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has migrated to a ROWE. Created by Ressler and Thompson while at Best Buy, ROWE is a management strategy where employees focus on results and only results – increasing an organization’s efficiency and output while creating a climate in which employees can manage life’s many demands.

ASCO signed on with CultureRx to implement ROWE in its organization.  The 265-employee organization migrated to a Results-Only work environment and went live in ROWE on May 2, 2011.

When implemented, a ROWE improves both an organization’s productivity and employee satisfaction levels and many industry insiders herald ROWE as a great ‘win-win’ for both companies and employees alike. But ROWE also has other benefits, including contributing to increased on-the-job efficiencies, decreased business costs (i.e., office space, electricity, etc) and even healthier employee lifestyles.

“We are thrilled to bring the increased efficiencies and productivity of ROWE to ASCO, and we look forward to seeing how it transforms the organization and the lives of its employees,” said Jody Thompson, co-creator of ROWE and co-principal of CultureRx, along with Cali Ressler. “We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: ROWE is the future of work. It’s always exciting for us when a new organization understands this and works toward a better future for itself and its employees!”

I have thought for sometime that one of the best examples of ROWE is distributed computing (either commercial or volunteer). A lot of folks remember SETI@home – Rosetta@home is its disease/cancer related sister project:

Rosetta@home needs your help to determine the 3-dimensional shapes of proteins in research that may ultimately lead to finding cures for some major human diseases. By running the Rosetta program on your computer while you don’t need it you will help us speed up and extend our research in ways we couldn’t possibly attempt without your help. You will also be helping our efforts at designing new proteins to fight diseases such as HIV, Malaria, Cancer, and Alzheimer’s Rosetta@home is not for profit. http://boinc.bakerlab.org/
